7 Days Sumatra Overland Package Tour

This is a very nice package, will be doing Sumatra Overland from the North to the West, offering the ‘What to See’ in Sumatra. The package features Berastagi mountain resort, Lake Toba both Parapat and Samosir Island, Padang Sidempuan, and Bukittinggi highland.

Day 01: Medan Arrival, then transfer to Berastagi

Include: Dinner at a Local Restaurant and Accommodation in Berastagi.

Upon arrival at Polonia Airport - Medan (required to have morning arrival), we will provide meeting service and then drive westward to Berastagi – a refreshing mountain resort which is a two-hour drive from Medan. En route, we will visit the traditional Batak Karo Tribal Village – Peceran, where ancient houses are still in use, and also visit the colorful market. Overnight in Berastagi

Day 02: Berastagi to Samosir Island

Include: Breakfast at the Hotel, Lunch at a Local Restaurant, Dinner, and Accommodation in Samosir Island.

In the morning, a leisurely drive to Parapat, the eastern shore of Lake Toba. En route will visit Sipisopiso to view the slender waterfall that drops into Lake Toba. Also visits the ancient Palace of King Simalungun at Pematang Purba. Upon arrival in Parapat, the journey will be continued by riding the motorboat about 45 minutes to cross Lake Toba until Samosir Island for an overnight.

Day 03: Samosir Island Tour

Include: Breakfast at the Hotel, Lunch at a Local Restaurant, Dinner, and Accommodation in Samosir Island.

A full-day program touring by motorboat will visit the surrounding islands. The first visit will be Batak Toba Village of Tomok, seeing the tile Tomb of King Sidabutar, then to Ambarita, a traditional village with ancient megalithic furniture in front of the traditional house, then also visiting the Village of Simanindo to witness a folk dance performance of the Batak Toba people. Afternoon, return to the hotel.

Day 04: Parapat to Padangsidempuan

Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Padangsidempuan.

Crossing back to Parapat by Ferry boat, arriving Parapat, leaving to Padang Sidempuan via Sibolga Gulf, a small harbor city and beach resort 180 km away from Parapat. En route, the journey will visit Lumban Garapa village to see another different Batak Toba traditional village, and also visit Balige, a small town with its richly ornamented market building. Then drive along the mountainous and winding road from the town of Tarutung via Sibolga to Padangsidempuan for the night.

Day 05: Padangsidempuan to Bukittinggi

Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Bukittinggi.

The journey today will be crossing the province from the North to the West, it is rather long but worthwhile, the passing scenery will be viewing of mountains, rivers, valleys, and traditional villages. En route, passing and stopping at the Equator Monument should nonetheless be remarkable in your record. Then continue to the most charming town, the heart of Minangkabau Highland, at Bukittingi for an overnight.

Day 06: Bukittinggi

Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Bukittinggi.

It is a full-day tour to explore the beautiful town of Minangkabau Highland. A photo stop will be made at the landmark of Bukittinggi, the Jam Gadang ‘Big Ben’, then visit the traditional market, the museum, Ngarai Sianok, the grand valley.

Continue to Koto Gadang, which is renowned for its fine silver work and hand embroidery, and also visit the traditional villages of Lima Kaum and Pariangan. Return to Bukittingi for overnight.

Day 07: Bukittinggi to Padang for Departure

Include: Breakfast at the Hotel.

This is the last day of the trip, and we will be driving about two hours through the beautiful countryside to Padang. Then we will provide a transfer to the airport for the flight departure to the other onward destination.
