Traveling along the extensive Mahakam River system is a fascinating adventure. Riverboats slide unobtrusively through heavily silt-laden waters, the trip to Tanjung lsuy, over the Mahakam River is long but interesting passing floating villages and forest scenery. A five thousand acre Orchid Reservation close to the village of Kersik Luwai cultivates twenty-seven different species of orchid including the very rare Cologenia Pandurata or black orchid.
Day 01: Arrival Balikpapan to LoaJanan
Include Dinner and Accommodation on board the houseboat.
Upon arrival at Sepinggan airport of Balikpapan (required to have morning arrival), we will provide a meeting service and then drive to Loajanan for boarding the houseboat for the Mahakam river cruise.
Day 02: Muara Muntai to Tanjung Issuy
Include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Accommodation onboard the houseboat.
After breakfast onboard stop at Muara Muntai for observing the way of the people living in the wooden village, and continue the trip by motorized canoe over Jempang Lake. On arrival at Tanjung Isuy, a welcome ceremony will be performed by the Dayak Banuaq tribe in front of their longhouse.
Day 03: Lekak Kidau to Melak
Include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Accommodation onboard the houseboat.
After breakfast onboard stops at Lekak Kidau Village for observing the way of the people life of the Kenyah Dayak tribe, then continue cruising to Melak and a stop will be done at Minta Village for observing local people making palm sugar in the traditional way.
Day 04: Melak to Lekak Kidau via Kersik Luway
Include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Accommodation onboard the houseboat.
After breakfast onboard, we will do a half-day excursion by car to visit the old communal longhouse at Eheng village and then to the natural black orchid forest and then return to the houseboat the program will be returning down the river for Lekak Kidau.
Day 05: Lekak Kidau to Balikpapan
Include Breakfast on-board houseboat, Lunch and Dinner at a Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Balikpapan.
After breakfast onboard stop at Lekak Kidau Village for observing the way of the people's life of the Kenyah Dayak tribe, then return to Tenggarong for observing the royal Collection of the Kutai Kingdom in the Museum. (It was a former royal palace). The program will be returning down the river for Loajanan, after lunch proceeding to Balikpapan for your accommodation.
Day 06: Balikpapan Departure
Include Breakfast at Hotel.
The morning will be free at your own leisure until the due time for departure we will provide a transfer to the airport for flight departure to another onward destination.
