This special package will be cruising with a local boat, and doing the overland is certainly a very nice package, having a combination of two highlights in Lesser Sunda, they are the Three Color Lake Kelimutu and the world heritage, seeing the island inhabited by the Komodo dragon. The package will feature Labuan Bajo, Komodo or Rinca Island, Ruteng, Bajawa, and Maumere.
Day 1: Arrival Labuan Bajo ( FLORES ISLAND )
Include: Lunch and Dinner at a Local Restaurant and Accommodation in Labuan Bajo.
Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo – West Flores, our guide will meet and transfer you to your hotel. Labuan Bajo is a little town inhabited by fishermen and lies at the extreme western part of Flores. The town serves as a jumping-off point for the trip to Komodo and nearby islands. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, then we will visit Batu Cermin Cave, 5 km away from the town. The cave is 75 by 5 m large, and contains stalactites and stalagmites.
Day 2: Labuanbajo - Komodo or Rinca - Labuan Bajo
Include: Breakfast at the Hotel, Lunch on board the houseboat, Dinner at a Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Labuan Bajo.
After breakfast at 06.00 AM, cruise to Komodo Island for about 3 hours by a local wooden boat passing several small islands. Upon arrival in Komodo island, walk for 1.5 miles to Banugulung to see the activities of the giant Monitor Lizard "Komodo Dragon" which was scientifically described in 1912 as VARANUS KOMODOENSIS, which is up to 3 m long and about 150 kg, weight.
The total number of these lizards is estimated at 3.500 - 5.000 living in the Komodo, Padar, and Rinca Islands. Return to the base and an opportunity to swim or snorkel on clean and white sandy beaches of Pantai Merah (Pink Beach), which is also considered the best spot for underwater life and corals (snorkel equipment is not supplied). Rinca is considered closer to Labuan Bajo and has a higher possibility of seeing the Komodo dragon. If the tour goes to Rinca, there is no pink beach. Lunch will be served on the boat.
Boating back to Labuan Bajo for overnight accommodation.
Day 03: Labuan Bajo to Ruteng
Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Ruteng.
Start to explore the distinct tribes in Flores Island (Manggarai, Bajawa, Lio, Sikka, etc). Drive overland to Ruteng, the capital city of Manggarai Regency, where the major Manggarainese tribe dwelt.
On the way, stops will be made at Lembor and Cancar with a beautiful panorama of rice fields with lush and dry hills as the background.
On arrival, check directly into your hotel. On to Ruteng Puu - Manggarainese traditional village to see their unique slant-shaped houses and be with local people.
Day 04: Ruteng to Bajawa
Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Bajawa.
Continue driving to the East to Bajawa - another cool and small town, as the capital city of Ngada Regency (home of Ngada, Riung, and Nagekeo tribes). Stops will be made at "Ranamese" Lake, and a snapshot at the magnificent peak of Mt. Inerie - an active volcano, and Aimere to see the local palm wine process. On arrival at Bajawa, you may have lunch at a local restaurant.
Day 05: Bajawa
Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Bajawa.
Explore the traditional village of the Bajawa tribe. Visit Boloji or Warusoba traditional village to attend a dance performance of Bajawanese, followed by "Suling" - a cluster of Bamboo flute concert music. Proceed to Bena - a megalithic village on the way, we will have a stop on the slope of Inerie volcano for taking pictures. Return to Bajawa for lunch at the Local Restaurant.
Afternoon onto Mengeruda – a natural hot spring water for relaxing and bathing.
Day 06: Bajawa to Moni via Ende
Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Moni.
Continue driving overland for 5 hours to Moni through scenic roads where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of mountains, rivers, and valleys, with the sea as the background. Stops will be made at Wogo, another traditional Bajawanese village, and Boawae - village of Nagekeo tribes to observe their tradition and culture, Ende for having lunch at a local restaurant, Onekore village - the center of "Ikat" hand-weaving with Endenese typical style, and the house of Bung Karno, our former President.
Day 07: Moni to Maumere via Kelimutu
Include: Breakfast at Hotel, Lunch and Dinner at Local Restaurant, and Accommodation in Maumere.
Early morning at 05.30, drive up to Kelimutu volcano to see the three colored lakes. Upon arrival, walk for 1,5 km and then ascend 163 steps to the top to view Kelimutu's green, blue, and black lakes. Descend to Moni village to visit Kowanara village, famous for its traditional Lusitanian houses. Proceed to Maumere with a detour to Sikka to observe their hand weaving and an old Church built in 16 Century. Several stops will be made according to local happenings.
Day 08: Maumere Departure
Include: Breakfast at the Hotel.
Morning will be free at your leisure, until the due time for departure, we will provide a transfer to the airport for flight departure to other onward destinations.
