Krakatau also spelled as Krakatoa, is a volcanic island made of lava in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. The name is used for the island group, the main island (also called Rakata), and the volcano as a whole. The best-known eruption of Krakatau culminated in a series of massive explosions on August 26–27, 1883, which was among the most violent volcanic events in modern and recorded history.
Day 1: JAKARTA to CARITA
Include Accommodation at a Hotel in Carita Beach Area.
We will depart for Carita beach resort, and after about a four-hour drive (according to traffic) we will arrive in Carita. After hotel check-in procedures, your remaining day will be free at your own leisure.
Day 2: CARITA to PEUCANG ISLAND visit KRAKATAU
Include: Breakfast at the Hotel, Picnic Lunch, Dinner, and Accommodation at the Guest House on Peucang Island
This morning you will take the 1.5-hour fast boat to the mystical island of Krakatoa. Sail between the cliffs of Rakata island and Anak Krakatau itself and then dock on a small sandy beach on the backside of the island. It takes just under 2 hours to reach the top from the bay at the start of the hike. It is a fairly moderate climb – getting steeper once beyond the trees and onto the black volcanic sand.
After around 30 minutes reach Anak Krakatau’s outer cone, a flat ridge with views over to Rakata island and other, smaller islands in the Krakatau group.
Most hikers are advised not to go beyond this point for safety reasons, although from here you can see the steep volcanic cone and rising sulfur gases.
Descend the volcano, back to the boat then continue to ‘Chili Lagoon’ for snorkeling over a coral reef (angelfish, surgeonfish, clownfish, batfish, butterfly fish).
After the trip proceed to Peucang Island. Afternoon trekking through the tropical dense jungle of Peucang Island for the sunset at Karang Copong, the western edge of the island.
Day 3: PEUCANG to JAKARTA via CARITA
Include: Breakfast at the Guest House on Peucang Island
After breakfast sail back to Carita, from where we will transfer back to Jakarta, upon arrival in Jakarta we will transfer to any hotel you have pre-booked in Jakarta Or directly transfer to Jakarta Soekarno Hatta Airport to reach your flight for your onward destination.
